Hey there Rockers; some good news! ….The two surgical options available to someone with my heart condition are open heart surgery or stent implants, and after almost a week of testing and consultation with the cardiologists and heart surgeon I am glad to report that my heart is still healthy enough that I can move forward with the stent option….
My procedure is scheduled for first thing tomorrow morning. Barring any complications, I should be home by this weekend, but there is a possibility that they may need to do two procedures. If that is the case, the 2nd “cath” procedure would be on Monday
The statistics say that open heart surgery option will probably make me live longer, but at great cost to me today; the typical risks associated with a major surgery, a very long recovery time, and per my surgeon the likelihood that my singing career would be over….this is NOT an option i am good with, which should come as no surprise to anyone who knows me….
The choice is actually very clear: Live my real life now, or survive a few extra years when I’m an old man….
My life right now is actually pretty fucking good: great kids, loving family and friends, great job, (and of course the dozen bands I sing in
Easy choice: I choose to live….
