Cult Metal Classics hat geschrieben:It's a really sad day for us, as one of our metal comrades since the early days of the record label (actually way before we started the record label or even started printing our fanzine back in the 90's), Nikos Zagoyiannis, unfortunately passed away. His loss was totally unexpected at such a young age.
Some things you may want to know about Nikos....he was never the kind of show off person. He was around long before any social media even existed and he was the person who would help you at any time requested, often at the very expense of his own happiness / well being. The rare type of person who helps everyone and rarely asks for anything.
When we started the label, he did the layout design for various releases of ours such as BLOODSTAINED "Greetings from hell", ELIXIR "The Idol" etc. Unlike most of the clowns that you see now that claim to do things for the sake of metal while they make tons of money from it, Nikos most of the times would give his 100% to help you, asking for nothing in return. He would pick up bands from the airport, drove them around and make sure they would feel like home, help underground labels by providing his design skills for free, design posters for live shows, play music at events, write articles for magazines and also contributing to various fanzines. He was multi-talented and also had a great sense of humour.
Some of our most happy memories with Nikos date back in the 90's by the time we were frequenting an underground metal pub / cafe named "Fame" where Michalis Nochos would play all those great bands that no one seemed to care much at the time such as MANILLA ROAD, BROCAS HELM, CIRITH UNGOL. We still recall our endless conversations with Mac (his nickname) and also his plans for his own fanzine by the name of "Flashes of steel". Though the fanzine never materialized, Mac, more than made up for it by contributing so much of his personal time to all those underground bands, fanzines, independent record labels, non-stop for more than 20 years.
We had met him a few weeks ago and we were supposed to meet him again by early 2022....
You never know what the future holds for anyone. Meet your friends as often as you can, tell them that you care for them, express your feelings and don't stress over things you have no control of. Buddy you will never be forgotten...and what a better world would have been if more people like you existed around....HAIL!
