Dan DeLucie Gitarrist der Amerikanischen Power Metal Band CRESCENT SHIELD hat folgende Meldung veröffentlicht: "Heute habe ich einen lieben und guten Freund, einen Bandkollegen, und eine Heavy-Metal-Bruder verloren. Michael Grant starb am 31. Mai 2012 nach einer relativ kurzen, aber schweren Krankheit im Glendale Memorial Hospital in Glendale, Kalifornien, Michael Grant war 39 Jahre alt. Zum Zeitpunkt seines Todes war Michael umgeben von seiner Familie." RIP Michael Grant!

Michael hatte gestern eine Hirnblutung und ist nicht mehr aus dem Koma erwacht..leider..Hier meine kleine Würdigung, die ich im Namen vom KIT verfasst hatte
Today we mourn the death of our good friend MICHAEL GRANT, singer of CRESCENT SHIELD, ONWARD, CYPHER SEER and LEGEND MAKER. He was just 39 years old. It really came out of nowhere and right now its really hard to find the right words for it. Michael did his only European show at our KEEP IT TRUE festival in 2008 and will be part of our KIT family forever. He told me how much he enjoyed this show and that it was very special for him. The same way around he will always be special for us and we will remember him as a great singer and even better person. RIP Michael, you will never be forgotten...

Das ist ja schade! Ich kenn nur das erste Crescent Shield Album, sehr starker Epic/Heavy Metal. Legend Maker und Onward wandern gleich mal auf meinen Einkaufszettel, gefällt mir ausgezeichnet.
Dann unbedingt zuerst das 2. CRESCENT SHIELD Album besorgen! Wird dich nicht enttäuschen!
Bei ONWARD die ersten 2 Alben, beim Dritten vorher mehr reinhören - schlechte Produktion.
Bei LEGEND MAKER war er nur Gastsänger, er singt nur auf dem ersten Album. Er hatte außerdem nichts mit den Songs zu tun.
Bei CYPHER SEER singt er auch nur auf dem ersten Album. Ob er da die Songs mitgeschrieben hat, kann ich dir jetzt auf die Schnelle nicht sagen.
Cool find ich, dass er ohne ein Instrument zu spielen, Songwriter war. Er hat das nur mit seiner Stimme gemacht.

boah ich glaub das is so urbackener hävi mätl wie ich erm nur ganz schwer aushalt. nicht schlecht, aber da juckt mich ständig das tanzbein. unangenehm.

Michael Grant was a great singer.
Pretty sad, the few criticisms CRESCENT SHIELD ever received were due to the tone of his voice which seemed to divide fans and critics in half. Some simply didn’t liked it.
But in my opinion he was one of the greatest singer I have ever heard. His voice was passionate, powerful and strong. Able to sing the heaviest Metal song as to indulge on melody. With Dan DeLucie they made the perfect couple, two friends, two extremely talented guys with a strong background in Metal.
I met Michael just once, when Crescent Shield played Keep It True in 2008. He was very friendly and didn’t stop thanking for the chance of playing in Germany that Oliver and us had given the band. He was a Giant, but his soul and his manners were gentle.
“You were born, you live, you die. Make sure that you live with greatness”.
These were his words to introduce “Lifespan” at Keep It True.
Michael, I am sure you lived your life with greatness, and so will always be remembered.
My most sincere condolences to his family and closest friends.

The recent death of original Onward frontman Michael Grant has led me to this painful, but I feel correct decision. Onward mk. 2 and what would have been the first Onward album without Michael are cancelled. Unfortunately, Michael and I did not leave off on a positive note and hadn't had a productive conversation in years. I had no idea Mike was ill and the extent of the pain he was going through. Every band has the right to have a full band reunion and that was something Mike and I did agree on when the time was right. Doing Onward albums with different line-ups seemed like an interesting detour that would eventually lead back to the original sources. With Mike's death this will never happen- and he wasn't thrilled about an Onward without him. In his memory I leave Onward just the way it was, three albums and some really good years. This music I have been working on will eventually surface, but under a different name and in a different context. Thanks and hope you understand my decision.

Some people have asked if Crescent Shield will find a new singer and continue. No. However, I mentioned that Michael and I had been writing material for another album. What I want to do is release this material. I have demo recordings of eight songs with me on the guitar and bass, a drum machine, and Michael singing. On seven of them, the vocals are recorded in good quality. On one song the vocals are horrible quality; my recording computer died and we had to improvise. I would like to rerecord the music with the rest of the band and use Mike’s vocal tracks; and rerecord the vocals on the one poor sound quality song. A guest vocalist will do that. This will be the last new music Crescent Shield will ever release. I know Mike would be happy his last songs were properly and professionally released.
Auch Crescent Shield wird es mit einem anderen Sänger nicht geben. Auch hier, richtige Entscheidung!
