-SAHARA SURFERS (AUT)
https://www.facebook.com/saharasurfers
For the last 4 years the Innsbruck band, Sahara Surfers, have been bringing rock from the desert to the Tyrolean alps. Their debut album “Spacetrip on a Paper Plane” very quickly earned them recognition on the stoner rock scene. The album transformed them from a blip on the radar to one of the most popular stoner rock bands in Austria. The skillful combination of psychedelic hooks and driving riffs typical to the genre, accented by the not so genre-typical female singer, immediately struck a nerve in the scene and has landed on open ears both in Austria and abroad.
With their second album, Sonar Pilot, the band has fine-tuned sound and developed a style they can call their own – old school stoner rock spiced with a healthy portion of alternative rock, a splash of psychedelic rock and a pinch of good old Metal resulting in a rich dish not typically seen on a Tyrolean menu.
-THE GRAND ASTORIA (RUS)
https://www.facebook.com/TheGrandAstoria?sk=info
They are The Grand Astoria. They were born and raised under the
scorching sun of Russia's South and their music first saw the light of
day in the blistering cold of St. Petersburg. They don't want to call
their music any names but for the lack of better words are often
labeled as psychedelic stoner punk band.
Even though punk rock and metal are two major influences they enjoy
rock music in all its diversity, so when you listen to TGA's new
record you never know what's coming up next. It could be a metal hymn,
or a psychedelic vibe or a skillful bluesy number. It may sound crazy
but somehow all these styles and grooves come together in really a
beautiful way in TGA's music. With their love to old-school and
willingness to experiment the band wins the hearts of fans and critics
alike all over the world. They write music, tour with it and repeat
the cycle again, succeeding in surprising their audience with the
never heard before blend of rhythms and cultures.
-FAR AWAY TOWN (AUT)
https://www.facebook.com/FarAwayTown
The band FAR AWAY TOWN was formed in 2004 by Alex (guit, vox), Christoph (guit), Shorty (drums) and Lindi (bass).
Their style is a mixture of acid-, garage- and stonerrock, paired with energetic old school rockriffs and psychedelic elements.
The band has played close to 100 gigs and supported well-known acts like Brant Bjork & the Bros, Dozer, Truckfighters, Deville, Brain Police,...
Tey have recorded two EPs ("Into Desert" 2006, "Quicksand" 2009) and a live-record ("LIVE 2010).
Over the years there have been several changes in the lineup, now consisting of Alex (guitars, vocals), Mario (drums) and
Christoph (now on bass).
Their debut record as a three-piece, "Old Jokes New Laughs", was recorded in april 2011 at Kapu-Studios, Linz.
-PARASOL CARAVAN (AUT)
https://www.facebook.com/parasolcaravan
Parasol Caravan crank their amps up to 11 and play heavy rock with stoner and psychedelic elements. They are a dirty soundbastard between Black Stone Cherry and Kyuss with never ending groove, fat guitar riffs that have no mercy with your neck and incredible whiskey soaked vocals that get under your skin.
Since the end of 2009 the four piece is rocking as many stages as possible and honoring their idols of the past without losing touch with the modern rock scene.
-ZYONARA (AUT)
https://www.facebook.com/zyonara
Zyonara - this 4 dude noise machine formed in May 2011, performing some heavy stoner rock with psychedelic influences. A fast growing fan community and excellent reviews for the first songs "wild paradize" and "mystical plaze" written by some international music blogs have proven the style of the four upper austrian guys.
This should be reason enough to set up their own music festival, the Lake on Fire, which will be celebrated for the first time this summer.
