The iconic metalhead Alexandros Szczygiel nicknamed "Polonos", who was a super talented artist responsible for many classic heavy metal artwork designs, passed away today and will be definitely missed. Among his many fabulous paintings was the Guardians of the flame "Under a Savage Sky" artwork. He even designed the Cult Metal Classics logo back in 2002. Multi talented and a person who lived and breathed for heavy metal. R.I.P. brother....

Biography
Born in Poland (Polish father, Greek mother) and moved to Greece in 1986.
One of the most well-known figures in the Athenian metal scene, Alex was recognised as one of the most dedicated metal fans in Greece, for more than two decades being at the front row of most metal concerts. Most knew him by the nickname "Ο Πολωνός" ("Polish").
Also designed the logo for Iron on Iron Records.
