NECROPHOBIC hat geschrieben:Thanks to everyone who watched the Necrophobic live stream today!
We were supposed to give you more. We were supposed to have hi-tech equipment.

We were almost beaten by malfunctioning hardware.
We were almost beaten by time.
We were almost beaten by the virus.

But if there is something all the years in the underground have tought us ...

You never quit! You never surrender!

Special thanks to the crew:
Vaple, Alex, Ella, Lovisa Daniel, Kit, Tal and Sergei

Scrolls Of Darmoth hat geschrieben:The review you are about to read below is the most unusual I have ever written so far. It is not for an actual concert I attended in person, but for a performance I witnessed from home, in the sweet confinement of my apartment. The occasion was Necrophobic‘s live streamed performance from the Harry B James Club in Stockholm, Sweden. Since everyone is aware of the actual condition going on in the world, I won’t go into any unnecessary details.

But I will mention that this particular show was supposed to start at 11.00 AM (CET), in an empty concert hall, as the band wanted to fight this quarantine with its own weapons, shoving their massive iron fist in the ugly face of this stupid virus.

Did they succeed? If you saw the show (and apparently over 1000 people witnessed it live), then you know that despite all the problems the band encountered yesterday, they eventually succeeded.

I have to admit I did not know what to expect from this, since I have never witnessed such an event before. Of course, I saw some live streamed performances during the years, but those were broadcasted from festivals so the bands were having an audience to sing to. In this case, the public was at home, in different outfits, depending the time zone they were watching from. Hearing Anders Strokirk talking between songs to an invisible audience was a bit weird, but on the other hand it established a strong connection between the viewers and the band.

From the very start of the performance the band experienced several technical problems, so instead of a professional broadcast we witnessed a smartphone live transmission. Even if at some point the video quality was not the best, I enjoyed every single minute of this massive performance the guys put on.

Anders Strokirk brilliantly summarized this whole fucked up situation, just before introducing Mark of the Necrogram: “Alright, are you still with us? I hope you are cause we have some corona virus in the system. We had to do it the cheap way, but that works as well“.

They could have cancelled the event at the very last minute, but instead they continued to play on 10, as if they were in front of a huge audience gone wild. Who the fuck cares about the tech issues, when at 11 in the morning, 5 men clad in leather and spikes gather in a small club to deliver one of the most memorable performances I have ever seen on my computer?

This was the first time I was watching Necrophobic with the new guy Allan Lundholm (also in death metal fanatics Interment) handling the bass duties, and boy he killed it. The band sounded solid as fuck, with Joakim Sterner in top shape behind his kit and a wild Anders Strokirk destroying the microphone. The 2 guitarists, Sebastian and Johan, delivered some of their best riffs all along the show, making me play the air guitar the whole time in front of the computer. If you did not watch the concert yesterday, you can still see it here, it is a must see:

For this special quarantined occasion, the band chose a very interesting set list, with songs from their most important albums. The opening was, surprise surprise, Awakening… from their very debut album The Nocturnal Silence! The latest release, Mark of the Necrogram featured 3 tracks, Tsar Bomba, Pesta and the amazing title track, which sounded amazing with the new line-up. Also, one of my favorite tracks, Blinded by Light, Enlightened by Darkness made it to the list, but unfortunately a small part of the song was cut due to some technical issues. The show ended with an amazing performance of another favorite track, the powerful Revelation 666, from the Death to All album.

All in all this special performance was indeed an amazing gift Necrophobic offered us in these difficult and strange times. I am extremely grateful and happy I was able to see the band, with this great new line-up, playing with such an enthusiasm and dedication.

Thank you Necrophobic, and the crew who made this possible, for this great event! It was a blast!!

Necrophobic line-up:

Anders Strokirk – vocals

Johan Bergeback – guitar

Sebastian Ramstedt – Guitar

Allan Lundholm – bass

Joakim Sterner – drums

And at the same time more honest and true to what really lies within. You are in for an absolutely pitch black journey through the landscapes of our souls.
