Our brother, leader, vocalist, our Chief Rebel Angel went on another ride last night. It’s with the deepest sadness that we have to announce that Lars-Göran Petrov has left us. He was (is!!!) an incredible friend, and a person that has touched so many people. He has changed so many lives with his voice, his music, his character and his unique personality. LG’s smile is something that we will carry forever in our hearts. When asked in an interview what he would like to have written on his grave and what about his legacy, he said: "I will never die, it will never die". And you didn’t. You will live forever in our hearts. ⁣⁣⁣⁣

We were extremely sad to learn that L.G. Petrov, the singer of Entombed A.D., has lost the battle to cancer. This is how we choose to remember him: on stage, sweaty and with a smile on his face. Thank you for everything you contributed, brother, you truly made Sweden rock. One last, big cheers for the road!

This is a sad day.
I'm a big Entombed fan since more than 30 years. They were always one of these bands that had a special place in my heart, no matter how they changed musically over the years.
I still remember that feeling i had when first listening to Left Hand Path, a 15 year old kid in 1990, and i immediately knew that this band was one of a kind. I will miss you.

Very sorry to hear about the passing of L.G. Petrov. I didn't know him personally, but we had lot of common friends, and I know he was one of the good guys, very passionate about Metal. "Left Hand Path" and "Megatrends In Brutality" are both in my top 10 of best death metal albums ever made. Rest in peace.

Just heard the awful news. This really sucks... Rest in Power LG! We had a lot of great times together, especially in the late 80 underground scene when we didn’t have record deals etc (simpler times). First time I stayed with you in your mums apartment I couldn’t believe that you had a huge drum kit in your bedroom, and banged out King Diamond songs in the middle of the night! You were a great drummer, maybe people didn’t know that about you so much? We had a wicked time in London, U.K. when I played in Entombed for a hot minute! We had even more fun in the early 90s when we did a few tours together with Entombed and Carcass, luckily there

Ich danke dir unendlich für all die Momente, in denen dein Wirken mein Leben bereichert hat.
Ich danke dir für dein unglaublich freundliches Wesen, als wir uns 2000 Backstage auf dem WGT in Leipzig am Bühnenrand getroffen haben. Ich habe dort mit meiner alten Band auf der Zeltbühne gespielt, ihr traft mit Entombed gerade ein und habt euch angeschaut, wie die Bühne für euer Konzert aussieht. Ich war ein kleines Metal-Kid und bin stark angetrunken vor dir auf die Knie in den Staub gefallen und habe dich angeschrien, was deine Band für mich bedeutet. Deine Bandkollegen haben (zu Recht...) nur mit den Augen gerollt, du aber hast mich als Metalhead über beiden Backen angestrahlt und gesagt, ich soll mal lieber wieder aufstehen, mich dann herzlich umarmt und dich bedankt.
Jahre später wollte ich mit Kummer -noch nicht mit Endseeker- „Supposed To Rot“ covern. Den Text gab es damals aber noch nicht im Internet. Also habe ich dich über MySpace angeschrieben und gefragt, ob du ihn mir aufschreiben kannst. Du kamst gerade, wie du mir schriebst, stockbesoffen von einem Eishockeyspiel und hast mir dann Nachts noch irgendwelche wirren Textfragmente geschickt. Das war nett und lustig. Werde ich nie vergessen. Zum covern reichte es aber noch nicht. Ich habe den Text dann irgendwann im Internet gefunden und endlich Jahre später mit Endseeker nachgespielt. Unser Cover des Songs ist auf immer und ewig dir gewidmet und die Geschichte dahinter werde ich nie vergessen.
Deine Gesangsleistung (ja, du hast auf der Platte „Gesangslinien“ gehabt) auf der „Wolverine Blues“ ist für mich außerdem immer noch die beste Performance eines Death Metal Shouters, die jemals abgeliefert wurde. Und ich gehe auch nicht davon aus, dass diese unsterbliche Meisterleistung jemals jemand toppen wird. Du bist für mich spätestens mit dieser Platte zur unsterblichen Legende geworden. Ich danke dir für unzählige Stunden Hörfreude (sicher bis an mein Lebensende) und die tiefe musikalische Beeinflussung, die du in mir hinterlassen hast.
Ich werde heute Abend ein Bier auf dich trinken, die „Hollowman“ EP und „Wolverine Blues“ hören und auf YouTube den asbach-alten Auftritt vom With Full Force schauen, wo ich als Kid im Left Hand Path Shirt gen Bühne dive, ehe ich plötzlich ohne Vorwarnung abstürze. Danke für den angeknacksten Finger, den ich danach wochenlang hatte, mein Jugendheld!
Wie gerne würde ich auch noch ein Videotape von eurer Napalm Death - Supportshow aus der Markthalle Hamburg bekommen (muss 1993 gewesen sein). Ich kann nicht in Worte fassen, wie prägend dieser Auftritt für mich war. Vor meinem geistigen Auge stand alles Kopf, so viele Stagediver auf Mal habe ich danach selten wieder gesehen.
Ganz sicher: Ohne dich und deine Band würde es Endseeker so in der Form gar nicht geben. Mehr Leidenschaft geht nicht.

Original ENTOMBED Members Pay Tribute To LARS-GÖRAN PETROV: 'We Will Forever Miss You'

Original ENTOMBED members Alex Hellid (guitar), Uffe Cederlund (guitar) and Nicke Andersson (drums) have released a statement about the recent passing of Lars-Göran "LG" Petrov. The pioneering ENTOMBED and ENTOMBED A.D. singer died on Sunday, March 7 after a battle with bile duct cancer. He was 49 years old.

Hellid, Cederlund and Andersson wrote: "All the years, all the toil, all the dreams, the struggle, the rewards, the humor, the laughter, and the tears. It's been a long damn journey and the memories are many and fantastic. Everything we've experienced and laughed at together, the big and the small, from being teenage kids to almost growing up. Your now legendary and unique sayings, your 'LGisms', must surely one day find their way into the dictionary. How can you argue against 'Pizza was invented in the late '70s by Turkish people in Bredäng (Sweden)'!

"Our thoughts go to your family, and your wider other family — your many friends all around the world. Through everyone you've touched, you live on. We will forever miss you, a member of our family, and we will always keep the good memories with us.

"Dear LG, dear friend, when we heard about your unfortunate passing, we felt we lost a part of ourselves. Your impact on us, for more than 30 years, has largely contributed to shape our musical DNA. When we picked up 'Left Hand Path' in the summer of 1990, we just thought 'This is our musical path, this is where we are heading'. The energy and madness you unveiled with your bone chilling vocals on this album has never left us. This is still THE to-visit-album when we feel nostalgic and beer-thirsty.

"'Left Hand Path' was the first mutual ground for us. When we met at the first PHOBIA rehearsal in 1990, Ivar wanted to sound like Uffe and Alex, and Grutle wanted to sound like LG. Robert Plant and Freddie Mercury wasn't the biggest vocalists in 1990, it was Chris Reifert and LG Petrov, period.

"Some years later we would meet each other at festivals around the globe, and we became friends. We even had some collaborations! At an ENSLAVED/ENTOMBED gig in Gothenburg in 2006, Grutle joined LG on vocals on 'Left Hand Path', and when ENSLAVED assembled a special show, including cover songs, at Hole In The Sky 2009, LG was the first one we contacted. He ended up doing vocals on, of course, 'Left Hand Path'. That was a huge moment for us, and stands out like a monolithic milestone in our career.

"On a personal-off stage manner, meeting LG was like an injection of vitamins and positivity! Whenever we met him (like on this pic of a hungover-like-a-freakin'-baboon-moment from an early morning on an airport somewhere) we always ended up having a laugh and we all cheered up, always.

"LG, you had an absolutely unique down-to-earth precence as well as being an out of this world talented musican and frontman. We were all lesser men beside you.

"Shine on LG, you crazy diamond".
