Tomas “Goatspell” Lindberg of At The Gates has passed away

Tomas Lindbger, lead vocalist of At The Gates, has passed away at 52 years old. He was battling adenoid cystic carcinoma, a form on cancer in the mouth and pallet. With At The Gates, he pioneered what is now known as melodic death metal, or the Gothenburg sound (since all of them came from that city). The news came from David Isberg of Bloodofjupiter. We wish to extend our sympathies to his family, friends and loved ones.

Tomas passed away this morning following complications related to his ongoing cancer treatment.
Despite intensive medical efforts, his life could not be saved.
Tomas - You were an inspiration to us all. A true friend, both compassionate & sympathetic. You will always be remembered for your generosity and your creative spirit.
